XAP file format is used for storing, installing and distributing software application. This file format is generally used for Microsoft Silverlight application.

It is ZIP formatted file extension and in order to view the content the extension of the file can be changed from XAP to ZIP. XAP file format is used by Windows 7 and 8 version of Microsoft operating system. It is a file archive format containing the required DLL files for software installation and AppManifest.XAML file in it. A single XAP file is required for installation of an application and this file is used for installation of small applications which do not require many files for installation.

1. Incorrect version of the installed application

A quite common problem is the lack of application in the appropriate version. 2. Incorrect .XAP file association with the program
