SCS file format is required by SimCity Societies for saving game data. The file is categorized as game files. This file is created by the game application when the user saves the progress of the game.

This allows the user to resume the game at the saved point. The data which is stored in SCS file includes the type of terrain selected, buildings location and number, current city situation including crime rate, electricity and water requirement, health situation, literacy rate and available resources. The user cannot access the content stored in this file and the file is not writeable. It is overwritten when new progress is saved.
